Well, it's not much of a story, but maybe until now. The past few summers, we've been over loaded with Rajon Rondo trade rumors. The best story of the summer has become the rumors that aren't there about Rondo. I think the Celtics have moved past that, because honestly who could we get in return for Rondo? Nobody can give us anything in return for Rondo at this point. This summer has been about building a team for Rondo, and the fun thing about losing Ray(Rat)? It only enhances the Celtics offense.
In 2009 who could forget this trade rumor. The rumor had the Celtics offering Rondo, and Ray Allen for Tayshun Prince and Richard Hamilton from the Pistons. Thankfully that deal never happened. And of course their were other rumors along the way, but this rumor rocked the core of the team for some time this past season.
When Chris Paul wanted a trade it had seemed that every team jumped at the chance. It had seemed the Celtics were the first team, along side the Lakers that wanted Paul. We all know where Paul landed. But it seemed like Rondo may have been rocked by the rumors. But he said many times, that he wasn't bothered by any rumor. He spoke with Danny, and that was it. Rondo felt confident in Danny's word. But a lot of us didn't buy into it. Because more rumors came out, and don't forget many mainstream media guys believed the Celtics were trading Rondo at the deadline.
But after the Celtics put together another magical playoff run that fell short. Rondo had a great postseason. I think he proved once again, that he's the best point guard in the game. Rondo showed the world, that he's a good shooter. He wowed us with a 44 point gem in-game two of the Eastern Conference finals, and he had many triple doubles that stole the show in the 2012 playoffs. I think after Danny standing pat on Rondo during the 2012 season, and how Danny has built this team. I think it's safe to say that Danny is sticking with Rondo.
It's nice for once, not thinking about this. Not seeing fans put up posts on other sites about a potential Rondo trade. I think many fans have realized that this is the best move for this team.Keeping Rondo as a life long Celtic, will only increase our chances at another banner. For one, Rondo has improved every season. It could be shooting like this season, or it could be decision making. Nobody can see the court like Rondo, and that gives the Celtics a leg up against most teams.
It's nice seeing Rondo in the safe house this summer. In a summer that is full of rumors, and Dwight Howard rumors. I feel like the Celtics have fully moved on from trading Rondo. Here's to the new era of the Big three model.
