No need for a letter

Who's getting sick to their stomachs? I know I am. It sickens me that these athletes say sorry in newspaper ads. James did it when he took a plane to Miami, and Ray did it to us as well this summer. Dwight takes the same approach.

Dwight places ad for Orlando fans

"To play the game of basketball in the NBA is a blessing and to have had the opportunity to play before the Orlando fans for eight years was truly a privilege and an honor," Howard says in the advertisement, which according to a story on the newspaper's website appears on Page C7.

"Words cannot express the love that I have for Orlando. With your support we have done great things in this city from hanging banners to impacting our youth."

The text is featured below a montage of seven photographs showing Howard with fans, on the court with teammates and holding an oversized check at an apparent charity event.

"Although my career with the Magic has come to a close, my love for the city and the people that make it beautiful will never end," the ad says.

Who leaves a place that they love? Well, maybe a crazy person. Let's face it, Dwight had a good team. The issues were being fixed. They unloaded contracts, and they moved on from SVG. They also moved on from their awful GM Otis Smith.  SVG wasn't a bad coach either, but it wasn't the best fit for a star player who wanted to have fun, and perhaps didn't want to hold himself accountable for the team losing. The hanging banners comment is lame. You won a East crown in a year when KG was out, but anyway. You didn't finish the job in Orlando, and the fans will forever hate you, or maybe not.

Dwight is a Laker now, and my hate towards him will hit  all time highs this season. He was scum before, but now he's the dreadful gum that hit's your shoe with no regrets. At least no regrets from the asshole who put his gum on the ground. All the same to me. This letter means nothing to a city that loved him. And it's getting old from these NBA players.

This line is hilarious, Shawn: "now he's the dreadful gum that hit's your shoe with no regrets" - well done!

These players act like the fans are idiots. But the thing is, so does ESPN. So does Don Sterni. And most of the fans seem to accept it.
