I'm no fan of Big Baby. I'm glad he's gone. Any affection I had for him disappeared when he helped break the Union during the Lockout, by complaining as soon as he missed a paycheck. I found that to be deeply despicable.
But I've still been dismayed at the nastiness shown around the Celtics fandom towards Baby since he's been gone. Davis played a lot of years in Boston and played a major role for us. When we see him again around the league, we owe him a little respect. What led his path elsewhere was nothing like what Judas Shuttlesworth did.
Baby has done well in Orlando, and he's proven his point to some extent, that the way he was coached and handled in Boston may have had something to do with his struggles. One would think that Boston fans and media could at least give him some of the props he's earned. What I've seen though, is barely any acknowledgement, beyond continued disparaging comments. When it comes to someone like Ray, I get that. But Davis deserves a bit of respect from us. He was one of us not long ago.
Sometimes sports fans are such bullies.

True Paul. The guy gave us years of service, and he maxed out his talent in Boston. He's now in a place where he wants to be. Why should we care, we have Bass. Plus Baby didn't pull a Judas move. He was traded because he wanted a bigger role, and money, and that was that. Ray on the other hand turned money away.
