I really thought this game meant something. Of course I wanted the game, but it was just one of those games that slipped away. This game had moments of despair. Let's look at the good things. First the Celtics lost the glass by one rebound 43-42, and you can't be upset with that. But Boozer had 20 rebounds compared to the Celtics high rebounder which was Sully with 15 rebounds.
The Celtics defense was strong without AB playing. They forced the Bulls into 21 turnovers. The defense wasn't perfect as well. They allowed the Bulls to shoot 48% from the field. The Bulls fell into some luck you could say to win this game.
"But when it came down to making plays, both at the end of regulation and in overtime, the Bulls made them. OK, they weren't really plays in the "designed-on-the-chalkboard" sense. They were plays that turned into scrambles that turned out quite nicely for Chicago, which escaped with a 100-99 overtime victory."
What I hope is this from this loss. I hope the Celtics understand that Rondo can do this every night. And I hope Rondo understands that he can do this on Comcast sports net, and just not on ESPN.
"It's difficult to make any sense of this one or take anything meaningful away from it. The Celtics' loss to New Orleans was your basic trap game, although the Hornets are playing much better than they were earlier in the season. The presence of the Bulls, Derrick Rose or no Derrick Rose, should not have required any sort of extra motivation.
The Celtics fell behind by 10 in the first six minutes and did not take their first lead until a Rajon Rondo free throw with 4:37 left in regulation. They never led by more than three. Kevin Garnett (1-for-10) and Paul Pierce (3-for-12) played the first three quarters underwater. Garnett eventually awoke, scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Pierce? He was a different story. You want someone to wear the goat horns in this one? He's your guy. He was horrible all night from the floor (5-for-17), he was victimized like a callow rookie on arguably the biggest play of the game. It was a mistake a veteran such as Paul Pierce is not supposed to make. But he made it, pure and simple."
The Celtics fought back. These are two of the best defending teams in the league, and it was a close game all the way after the Celtics railed back after falling down by 10 early. The Celtics fought, and I really can't knock them for that. It's what I ask for win or lose, and we got that. Pierce was needed, and his shot was really flat. Rondo took the hero hat, and it should happen more often. Because Pierce can't carry this team every night, but Rondo could if he wanted to. I'm willing to let this game go, but the Celtics need to bring it for the remainder of the month.

Rondo had 30 point, and saved the Celtics from going down bigger. If Pierce plays a little better, and if KG played a little better in the early part of the game, and plus if he made his free throws that he normally makes the Celtics would have walked out with a win.
