"I wanted [Jason Terry] to play with Kevin [Garnett]. I wanted Courtney [Lee] to see how Paul [Pierce] likes to play. I wanted Paul and Jeff Green to go at each other," Rondo told Yahoo! Sports. "I wanted to play with those guys. It was getting guys away from our actual training facility to get a new view.
"I wanted the guys to have fun. When you're with me I want you to say, 'Man, I had a good time with Rondo.' And I think that's what they did
No other leader in the NBA that we know of, has put together a practice to put new team members together. We've heard of players doing it in years past, but it's more of a story for one reason. The media has painted Rondo as the villain. Some blogs may do at times as well. Rondo isn't perfect, but it's now in everyone's face, and they must accept Rondo as the sole leader of this team. KG, and Pierce are a year older, and Rondo is a year older, but unlike the older duo getting older. Rondo is entering his prime.
Rondo downplayed any bitterness between him and Ray Allen, suggesting, "People are blowing the Ray thing out of proportion," and said he does not know why Allen elected to sign with the Heat this summer.
Rondo doesn't need to explain anything about Ray Allen. Ray had issues with more than Rondo. He had issues with Doc reducing his role, and with the love he was not receiving. Oh, well about that Ray Allen guy. I think the Celtics dodged a bullet with resigning him.
