Thoughts on Dooling's departure

It was a key signing for the Celtics this season. Dooling was a veteran that could keep Rondo in check. and he was a shoulder to lean on for Rondo. Dooling also had much game left in the tank.
"We'll miss Keyon's spirit and energy, both on and off the court," Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a statement. "The whole Celtics family wishes him well as he enters the next phase of his life."
That's how I feel about it. Dooling was more about spirit than talent. He was the energy off the bench that could light a fire under anyway. I'll miss Dooling's approach with this team, and his words of motivation. Dooling was born to be a Celtic, and it's a shame that he wore the jersey for just one season. I'll never forget Dooling. So with two more roster spots left. Do the Celtics purse Pietrus? Is that still an option?I will miss his flexing with the guys on the bench, maybe it will catch on this season with a new group. I also wouldn't be shocked if Dooling comes out of retirement mid-season.
That's my dream I guess. Please share your thoughts on Dooling. It's a sad day..

Wow. This worries me. I'm beginning to think that Danny has gone manic again. What the Perk trade seemed to show, amongst other things, was that Danny did not understand the importance of loyalty, continuity, and emotional chemistry. Now it looks like that may still be the case. Dooling appeared to be a key guy last year in terms of intangibles, and it was intangibles that almost took us to the finals. Is Danny showing once again that he doesn't get it that no matter how many marginal talents he brings in, each of whom COULD turn out to be a diamond in the rough, so to speak, he may not be able to replace one guy who helped forge the spirit of a team that had a lot of spirit?

Is Rondo really going to be able to lead this team? Dooling appeared to be a guy who could pull way more than his weight without even setting foot on the floor, and when he did set foot on the floor, he gave us a reasonably solid backup for Rondo, a guy who gets hurt a lot.
Frankly, this seems crazy, unless there is some particular reason for it we aren't being told about. Maybe this really is Dooling's decision. I'm upset about it, frankly. Now suddenly we are a very, very new team, with possible leadership problems. Dooling was an important part of the emotional center of the team.
I have to change my outlook for next season. Wow. Where yesterday I still saw a team that would gel quickly, which would gel quickly around a strong core of leadership-oriented veterans, I now see a much more unstable situation. Basically, only the starting five were here at the end of last season. Ten new players have to be absorbed. That won't happen easily. I had been arguing that this team would go ten deep, and that the distinction between the starters and the bench players would seem less important than it had in the past. Now I don't see it that way. Now I see that the starters will predominate. How else can it be? This team is likely to be a disorganized mess past the starting five. Every player now is facing huge question marks, even the starters.

Dooling is walking away. The Celtics don't want him to leave. This has nothing to do with Ainge. But its very crazy how a team can move on just like that. With Dooling out,and Darko in.

I'm so disappointed that I don't even know what to say.
I was so happy when the Celtics finally signed Dooling this offseason that now this seems unreal.
I hope that Keyon, even if he doesn't play with the Celtics will keep on being Rondo's confident because Rondo will need his presence and his advices more than anybody else. They developed a close relationship so I really hope that they'll keep in touch constantly.
I'm curious to know what really happened here.

C's life, are you sure this is nothing to do with Ainge? I hope you are right, but I don't see any indication of that so far.

I'm in shock too, and also a little concerned that Dooling is ok. Rondo is going to be carrying a big load. I think it's going to be tough without the Rondo Whisperer.

Yeah, this really worry me.
But if nothing serious happened in Dooling's life, I'm sure he will still offer his advice with Rondo.
He really cared about him I think.
But sure, it won't be as if he was part of the team.
