I have nothing against Pietrus, and if you asked me last year I would have told yes I want Pietrus without a stutter. Here is the quote from Pietrus.
?Phoenix didn't use me, but that's their problem. I'm going to continue working. The only thing I care about is winning a title... A lot of teams are interested in me, like the Lakers or the Celtics. This came from the best player in the world: Kobe Bryant. He told me two months ago that he would like to see me with the Lakers."
I'm not sure if Pietrus is the right fit for the Celtics. He's become a volume three point shooter. He's a good defender, and that's always great, but his offensive game has become all about jacking up three's. Pietrus has become this volume shooter, and you would think he's in the top 30 at least in three point percentage. Nope he ranked number 80 last season. Pietrus was apart of the deals that sent the Magic in a identity crisis. Pietrus would become a Sun with a few of his Magic teammates. Vince Carter, and Marcin Gortat.
Pietrus never found his rhythm in Phoenix, and he knows the Suns are in a rebuilding process, or real close to one. The reason I believe Pietrus is the wrong fit for the C's? First the Celtics have Jeff Green off the bench, and second West should return next season. Green should play small forward, and West will more than likely be the shooting guard off the bench. I'm real good with that. Pietrus simply is not better then Green and West. The Celtics are looking for more of a athletic player on the wing. Just like our old friend Tony Allen. I would be more open to bringing back Marquis Daniels.
Pietrus exercised a $5.3 million player option to return to Phoenix, and that's too much money for my blood. I wouldn't even be in favor of any sign and trades involving Glen Davis. The Celtics own the trade exception if it's still around after the lockout .Which it probably will be. I don't want to waste it on a deal including Pietrus. I just don't see Pietrus fitting in the Celtics plans next season. I think they past him up in last seasons trade deadline, and the Celtics have moved on.
