Celtics Beat Post New Entry

Celts tried for Westbrook, Perk after the 2011 playoffs, what!

ESPN:

ESPN's Chris Broussard dug up yet another interesting Celtics tidbit for us this evening, one that casts last season's Kendrick Perkins-for-Jeff Green trade in an entirely new light.

After last season's playoffs, the Celtics offered Rajon Rondo and Green to Oklahoma City for Russell Westbrook and Perkins, sources told Broussard. The Celtics, looking for another scorer who can create his own offense, thought Westbrook might be available after his erratic postseason play. But Oklahoma was not interested in the deal.

I think I have finally lost it. Is Danny losing it? Was this offer made because he knows it won't happen? Is he so ignorant that he thinks it would go through? I feel like I'm apart of a  video game, and I'm fudging career mode so I get the perfect team,or who I want on my squad. Danny is anti Red,and that's because of his actions. Don't get me wrong Danny has done some great things, but that doesn't mean he gets a free pass.

Anti-Red, yes. Red made his own awful mistakes. Fans who remember the Celtics era will never forget the way he went to war against Silas and Havlicek after the 1976 championship. Both those guys still had a lot left in the tank, and we still had arguably the best player in basketball at that time, Dave Cowens, his basketball heart still beating like mad. But Red chose to beat that great team to pieces with his gigantic ego.

So Red wasn't perfect, and we shouldn't expect perfection from Danny, but this crap is just unbelievable. He's being played by New Orleans on top of everything else. Rondo straight up for Paul, or maybe with a sprinkle of sugar on top - another player, like Johnson, or a draft pick - would be a fabulous offer for Paul. If they didn't bite, Ainge should have left it alone. Let them think about it. But he seems to be like an addict. Once he feels that a deal can happen, he can't control his urge to find a way to make it.

And note that no one is making the obvious inference from this: that Danny himself basically acknowledged what so many of his critics have been saying; that The Trade was so horrifically bad that the fool wanted to do a do-over. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?!!!! He actually wanted a do-over!!!!!!!!!!!!

How surreal are things going to become?

Dumb man. I can't believe Danny would even think that. He's out for scoring now. Paul you remember that time in the 70's. Amazing

The thing is, it's every bit as reasonable as The Trade was to begin with...

It's weird, isn't it, how the seventies Celtics have been forgotten. They only won one less championship than the 80s Celtics, and in fewer years.

If Danny wants to find scoring, he needs to find it in the low post. Chandler makes more sense for us than Paul does.
