I think it's normal that the Howard, and Paul rumors pop up right after the lockout. It's pretty much were we left off last season right? What's different this time? Well the Paul talks this time sound real. I would say the Rondo for Paul rumor, is no rumor. It's got some venom there, and now we look to Howard. I get the feeling that both players are traded, and they won't hit the open market. My hope of Rondo, and Howard could be fading, but the Lakers will need to deal a big part of their team to land Howard. All the Celtics have to do is hope that doesn't happen, and that they get a shot to talk to him once he jumps into the market in 2012 when the Celtics have boat loads of money.
Otis Smith wants to keep Dwight Howard, but won't rule out trade if absolutely necessary-Link
“I think you have to wait and leave all that up in the air. I don’t think you can say you will or you won’t [trade] at this point because you don’t know what you don’t know. I can speculate based on what I read and hear, but that’s really not fair to Dwight and it’s not fair to us. So you have to have a conversation with him about what he wants to do, and then you have to make the best decision that’s in the best interests of the franchise, as always.”
As of early Wednesday afternoon, Smith said he hadn’t spoken yet with Howard’s California-based agent, Dan Fegan.
